Detroit Tigers make second round of cuts from major league camp

The Detroit Tigers put in their second round of cuts from major league camp after Sunday’s victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates. With just over two weeks until Opening Day, the central roster battles in camp are starting to shape up, and the starting pitchers are going to keep stretching out to 75 and then 90 pitches per outing. That makes it harder to schedule pitchers on the fringes of the roster without moving them over to the minor league side of camp. As a result, four pitchers were optioned to Triple-A Toledo on Sunday.

The biggest name is right-handed starting pitcher Matt Manning.
