At the quarter-season mark, the Detroit Tigers are largely who we thought they were.
They might have pitched better than expected, might have hit worse, but the past month has presented an about-face of sorts: This is where they should be, in the second full season of a rebuilding process.
In comparing the Tigers to other rebuilds, as we did in Sunday's Free Press, it must be highlighted that the Astros lost more than 106 games for three straight years, from 2011-13; the Cubs lost 101 games two years before they won the World Series; and the Royals, Phillies and Braves each lost 90-plus games for three consecutive years.
