The Detroit Tigers got some bad news recently when the Toledo Mud Hens sent last year’s primary closer Jason Foley to the injured list. The 29-year-old did not make the big league team out of spring training and began the season with their AAA affiliate.
Foley looked fine through his 6 2⁄3 frames of minor league ball but has not appeared in a game since April 12 after experiencing discomfort. According to team sources, he was dealing with a right shoulder strain that is apparently more severe than first expected.
“We’re getting him evaluated,” said Tigers manager A.
