Detroit Tigers catcher James McCann will be sidelined for the time being.
The team’s usual starter was in the starting lineup on Thursday, and logged an at-bat in the team’s 7-6 road loss to the Houston Astros.
However, McCann would later exit the game due to injury after being hit by a pitcher.
Alex Avila replaced the 26-year-old as a pinch-runner. Avila fined the game 1-for-2 with a run scored, a walk and a strikeout.
The Tigers would announce in a tweet on the team’s official Twitter account that McCann went on the disabled list in a tweet on Friday morning.
