JaCoby Jones has tried everything to get out of his slump.
He has put in extra work in the batting cage. He has studied video. He has switched to a new setup in the box, trying to simplify his swing.
But the hits haven’t come.
Jones is hitting .138 in 17 games this season, with just six hits in his last 51 plate appearances.
“It’s a tough game,” Jones said Saturday morning, sitting in the Tigers’ clubhouse. “It’s very upsetting. Knowing the type of player I am, and what I can be on the field, but I’m not doing it.
