ANAHEIM, Calif. — Ron Gardenhire is not a wordsmith.
He is a baseball manager, and as baseball managers do, he often repeats sayings like “He was just misfiring a little bit” (a pitcher who couldn’t execute) and “bobba-loo” (an error) and “there you have it” (a brief synopsis of the game).
Often times this season, those sayings have come after losses, inside the manager’s office inside quiet clubhouses, where pitchers who had misfired and fielders who had bobba-looed were frustrated again, and well, there you have it.
But after Monday night’s game against the Angels, in the midst of a media session broadcast live on YouTube, Gardenhire had to stop and give himself credit.
