But Oct. 14 is perhaps the most significant date in the team's history.

This night at Tiger Stadium is among the most iconic in World Series history. After already clubbing a home run in this Game 5, Kirk Gibson came up to face the Padres' Goose Gossage.

You may know the rest. From "he don't wanna walk you," to Gibson's smooth left-handed stroke, the Tigers outfielder set off a frenzy at Michigan and Trumbull in the eighth inning with a homer to right that all but clinched the championship.
