CINCINNATI — Detroit Tigers catcher Austin Romine was in the dugout on Saturday evening, talking to one of his new teammates, when he noticed something special about his new club.
“I was talking to Cam (Maybin) during the game (about it),” Romine said. “This team's fighting and chipping away and chipping away.”
And that’s exactly what the Tigers did on Saturday night.
It was more than JaCoby Jones’ dramatic ninth-inning home run, which gave the Tigers a 6-4 victory over the Cincinnati Reds.
It was more than some fine pitching performances by some young Tigers, which kept them in the game.
