The Detroit Tigers have lost one of their top pitching prospects to injury. George Sipple, of the Detroit Free Press, reports that the team announced the injury on Monday. Prospect Franklin Perez is excepted to miss twelve weeks but fortunately isn’t in need of surgery. Perez came to the Tigers via the trade that sent Justin Verlander to the Astros.
Lynn Henning, of the Detroit News, writes that the injury won’t be a significant setback for the pitching prospect. The LAT strain will cause significant time lost and the will require plenty of rest out of Perez.
