ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Ron Gardenhire’s picture was back on the wall.
Inside the visiting manager’s office at Tropicana Field, there are framed, 6- by 8-inch photos of each visiting manager. In years past, they were pictures of the managers yelling at umpires. This year, they were decidedly happier.
Gardenhire, the Tigers’ first-year manager, was happy to get out of Florida in relatively full health on Tuesday afternoon.
