The Detroit Tigers were not competitive on Wednesday afternoon.
Fresh off their first win at Comerica Park since July 21 – the Tigers beat the White Sox in the night cap of a day-night doubleheader on Tuesday night – the team reverted back to their more-often-than-not punchless ways.
Rookie left-hander Tyler Alexander was hit hard, allowing five runs in four-plus innings, and the Tigers couldn’t hit White Sox righty Ivan Nova at all, losing 8-1 at Comerica Park.

Their at-bats were uncompetitive throughout, swinging early in counts at an array of breaking balls Nova threw at them.
