Detroit Tigers manager Brad Ausmus was down to two options to pitch the 13th inning -- Anibal Sanchez or Francisco Rodriguez -- at the end of this epic battle against the Baltimore Orioles.
He went with Rodriguez, the closer who is no longer the closer.
“K-Rod has experience pitching in that situation,” Ausmus said. “He’s done it hundreds and hundreds of times. So yeah, I liked him in that spot.”
