Detroit Tigers' defense sets tone in loss to White Sox: three takeaways

It started off ugly defensively, with perhaps the Detroit Tigers’ worst half-inning, and it ended with more missed opportunities offensively.

The Tigers lost to the White Sox, 6-3, on Tuesday night at Comerica Park.

Not helped at all by his defense — which threw the ball around and allowed two runs to score on a sacrifice fly in the top of the first inning — Blaine Hardy only pitched four innings. He allowed four runs on five hits but only threw 57 pitches. There was no word on an apparent injury sustained.

Hardy allowed three runs in the first but the Tigers came back to tie the game.
