An added boost to the Detroit Tigers pitching staff could be on its way soon.
Detroit Tigers left-hander Daniel Norris is inching closer to his return from a positive COVID-19 test in a 60-game sprint where they are already running low on starters and relievers.
He was activated to rejoin the 60-man player pool July 21 after missing the entire summer camp but has since been sent to Fifth Third Field in Toledo with the reserve squad. On Monday, Norris tossed 50-60 pitches and hasn't had any setbacks.
"He's doing fine," Gardenhire said Tuesday.
