LAKELAND, Fla. — Detroit Tigers left fielder Christin Stewart needs to produce. Any way possible.
“Christin Stewart is just a workhorse,” Tigers manager Ron Gardenhire said. “We know his deficiencies in the outfield. He has to get better. But it’s time for him to show some offense. We know he can hit the ball a long ways. But he’s just got to be able to do it. He needs to have a good spring.”
In his first at bat of spring training, Stewart had a broken-bat RBI single on Saturday afternoon during the 8-8 tie with Philadelphia.
