CHICAGO — Two days after he returned, Christin Stewart is gone again.
After rejoining the team for workouts on Friday afternoon, Stewart was sent south, where he will begin a minor-league injury rehabilitation assignment with Class-A Lakeland, Detroit Tigers manager Ron Gardenhire told reporters on Sunday morning.
Stewart is rehabilitating from a right quad strain, sustained late in an April 17 game against the White Sox. The injury — initially thought to be sustained while rounding second base on a flyout — was really sustained an inning before, when he slipped after catching a fly ball in left field.
