LAKELAND, Fla. — Detroit Tigers chairman and CEO Christopher Ilitch wants fans to know something. He feels their pain.
Oh, and something else, too: Yes, he will spend money on free agents — when the time is right.
Ilitch stopped by the team's spring training facility at Joker Marchant Stadium on Friday and greeted players and staff before he sat down with reporters for a 27-minute interview that largely was focused on the progress of the Tigers’ rebuild.
“You know, I get it. I understand the frustration,” he said. “Tiger fans are the greatest.
