The Detroit Tigers won their 30th game of the year and snapped a six-game losing streak earlier today thanks to a walk-off homer in the tenth inning by Nick Castellanos. The victory included stellar performances from Tyler Alexander and JaCoby Jones.
Tyler Alexander was the unsung hero of the game. The 25-year-old pitcher made his second career start for the Tigers today and went 7.0 innings only giving up one run and one walk. He showed excellent command of the strike zone and kept the ball in the park, despite only recording one strikeout.
