LAKELAND, Fla. — Casey Mize, the Detroit Tigers' top prospect, enters his second spring training camp with a healthy shoulder – he says – and a new approach.
Mize has backed off on his preparation. He is not worried about being polished and dominant on the first day of camp – Tigers pitchers and catchers will hold their first official workout on Wednesday.
No, he wants to be great during the season.
But more than that, he wants to be healthy at the end of the season. Of course, Tigers fans hope that he’s in Detroit by that point.
