BRADENTON, Fla. — After Detroit Tigers prospect Casey Mize was done pitching, he stayed in the dugout for one reason: Mize wanted to watch his teammate, Alex Faedo, go out and pitch.
“The trainers came out and said, ‘Hey, come on, go do your arm care,’” Mize said. “And I said, ‘Nah, I’m gonna watch Alex, if that’s OK.’
“I just wanted to see him. Alex is an ultimate competitor … he’s a winner.”
Faedo threw 1u2154 innings, struck out two and didn’t allow a run, as the Tigers rolled to an 8-4 Grapefruit League Sunday against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
