Detroit Tigers can't come back in ninth inning, lose 4-3 to Twins

The Detroit Tigers could not start a winning streak.

After snapping their six-game slide on Friday night against the Twins, they dropped Saturday night’s contest, 4-3, at Comerica Park.

It was a rather uneventful game, put out of reach when Tyler Austin hit a two-run home run off Francisco Liriano in the top of the fifth inning.

Liriano pitched five innings, allowing three runs on six hits. He walked four batters and struck out three.

The Tigers’ offense came alive in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Victor Martinez walked and Niko Goodrum hit a two-run home run to wake up the crowd.
