A quick look at some of the players who have cashed in since Miguel Cabrera signed his big extension with the Detroit Tigers in 2014. Ryan Ford, Detroit Free Press
Spring training starts this week in Florida and Arizona but not all of baseball’s best players will be showing up. More than 50 veteran free agents have yet to sign deals as they wait for the market to thaw. Many below the top tier will have to settle for one- or two-year deals, rather than long-term contracts.
Of course, here in Detroit, we know the Tigers aren’t in the market for any of them, as the team is still shedding payroll and looking at another season of at least 90 losses, with the plan of being competitive in 2021 or later.
