ANAHEIM, Calif. — They took better at-bats, strung together a couple of hits and scored more than one run, but the Detroit Tigers lost again on Monday night.
Matthew Boyd kept them in the game, but a few pitches up in the zone dug too deep of a hole for their struggling lineup in a 6-2 loss at Angel Stadium of Anaheim.
The game’s turning point came in the top of the sixth inning, when the Tigers loaded the bases with nobody out. Jose Iglesias singled. But then Nicholas Castellanos watched strike three and Jeimer Candelario grounded into an inning-ending double play.
