ST. PETERSBUGH, Fla. — The Detroit Tigers added to their group of outfielders at the Triple-A level.
The Tigers acquired outfielder Grant Witherspoon on Wednesday from the Tampa Bay Rays, multiple sources with knowledge of the situation told the Free Press. To complete the trade, the Tigers sent cash considerations to the Rays.
The Rays selected Witherspoon in the fourth round (No. 120 overall) in the 2018 draft from Tulane. He will report to Triple-A Toledo as the Mud Hens begin their season Friday at Fifth Third Field.
