Detroit City FC has set aside an allotment of free tickets for each home match in March and April for fans with baseball season tickets and/or Opening Day tickets, the club announced Tuesday after MLB could not come to an agreement earlier in the day to end its lockout.
MLB commissioner Rob Manfred canceled 2022 Opening Day and announced games will be lost to a labor dispute for the first time since 1995.
“A sports town is only as strong as its traditions, and opening day is the biggest tradition in Detroit sports,” DCFC co-owner Alex Wright said in a statement.
