Detroit 6, Baltimore 5: Tigers look to build on comeback win

BALTIMORE – “Really,” Brad Ausmus said on Saturday night, “The story is every time we’re able to do something, we give up a run or we give up a lead the next half inning.”

It was a different story this afternoon. This time, they didn’t give up the lead. This time, they got a break and took advantage of it. This time, for the first time in five games, the Detroit Tigers won.

Boosted by back-to-back eighth-inning home runs by J.D. Martinez and Miguel Cabrera with two outs, the Tigers beat the Orioles, 6-5, and perhaps, for the moment, put a pause to their May free fall and questions about Ausmus’ job.
