Depleted bullpen bombs in Detroit Tigers' 8-5 loss to Royals

Free Press sports writers Anthony Fenech and George Sipple give their thoughts on the first few games of the Detroti Tigers' 2018 season from Comerica Park.

The Detroit Tigers needed better results from the bullpen arms they used on Sunday against the Royals. Unfortunately, those arms "misfired" repeatedly, according to manager Ron Gardenhire, and the Tigers went on to lose, 8-5, at Comerica Park.

Left-handed starter Francisco Liriano pitched well, carrying a no-hit bid into the sixth inning before giving up a solo home run to Whit Merrifield. Alex Wilson replaced Lirano with runners on the corners and one out in the sixth.
