DETROIT -- On a late-summer Friday night when winds were gusting out to left-center field at Comerica Park, the Tigers had bigger troubles with balls that stayed in the park. The Royals took advantage of three Detroit errors and two other miscues for three unearned runs off Francisco Liriano, sending the Tigers to a 4-3 loss Friday night at Comerica Park.
The result continued some of the frustrations manager Ron Gardenhire has noted down the stretch, giving him further motivation to put extra focus on defensive fundamentals next Spring Training. Though the Tigers rallied late to put the potential tying run in scoring position, they couldn't overcome the early miscues.
