The 6-foot, 200-pound first baseman had no college baseball options, until the then-Northwood University coach took a risk.
It certainly panned out, as three years later, Vinsky was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 15th round (No. 455 overall) on Wednesday.
“It’s been my dream ever since I can remember,” Vinsky told the Free Press a few hours after being drafted.
