JUPITER, Fla. – Daniel Norris has been scratched from today’s Grapefruit League game against the Miami Marlins with lower back stiffness, according to the Detroit Tigers.
Norris was scheduled to make his fourth appearance of the spring.
The second-year left-hander appears to be the front-runner to win the team’s fifth rotation spot, but that could be up in the air depending on how long the stiffness lingers.
Norris, 22, has allowed four runs on nine hits in six innings this spring. He has struck out eight and walked two.
