Daniel Norris effective in winter ball debut

Winter is technically two months and a week away, but the Dominican Winter League opened play on Saturday, and Daniel Norris’ stint for Aguilas Cibaenas along with it. The Tigers left-hander tossed 4 1/3 innings of one-run ball while striking out four in a no-decision.

Norris is scheduled to make three starts for Aguilas before joining an MLB tour of Japan for a couple more outings next month.

Norris was effective early, striking out the side in order in his first inning and retiring the side in order in the second. He ended the third with a double play before back-to-back doubles from Yamaico Navarro and Juan Francisco accounted for Norris’ lone run in the fourth.
