Daniel Norris digs hole too deep; Detroit Tigers fall, 5-4, to Giants

Daniel Norris waited for a minute, then two, growing about as annoyed as you’ll see him. Reporters had taken up the space in front of his locker, spilling four-deep around Justin Verlander’s neighboring locker, and all Norris could do was wait for them to finish their trade deadline inquiries so he could get ready for this, perhaps the tipping-point start of his season.

And after it was all said and done, Norris was still waiting. For something to finally go his way. For consistency. And maybe now, for a ticket to Triple-A Toledo.

Yanked from Wednesday night’s game against the San Francisco Giants in unceremonious fashion, allowing five runs in four innings, Norris’ struggles overshadowed another too-little, too-late comeback effort from the Detroit Tigers.
