Crushed: Mariners pummel Boyd, Tigers with a home run barrage

Detroit — The home run ball continues to destroy what was shaping up to be a breakout season for Matthew Boyd.

The Tigers ace gave up four more home runs Tuesday night, surrendering a 6-3 lead in what ended up being an ugly, 11-6 loss, their fifth straight against the Seattle Mariners this season.

Kyle Seager and Tom Murphy hit back-to-back home runs off Boyd in the fourth inning. And they did it again Tuesday in a six-run sixth inning. Seager’s second was a three-run blast to right field. Murphy’s second traveled 429 feet to the back of the left-field seats.
