Jeimer Candelario looks very much like one of the feature building blocks of the rebuilding Detroit Tigers. In four months of major league action, he’s consistently produced at the plate and given the Tigers professional at-bats, game in and game out. He’s also showed raw power beyond what most expected when the Tigers acquired him in the Justin Wilson deal with the Cubs last July.
On Saturday night, a very patient crowd was rewarded with a monster walkoff homer from the Tigers’ young third baseman. The Tigers were down to their last out in the twelfth inning and running desperately low on decent relief arms.
