OAKLAND -- Yoenis Cespedes, for the first time since being traded, returned to the place his Major League career began. He left as a conquering hero.
Cespedes snapped a scoreless tie with a booming three-run home run in the fifth and the Tigers made it stand up for a 3-2 victory over the Athletics on Wednesday.
A popular player in Oakland, Cespedes played his first 365 games with the A's and hit 66 home runs, driving in 229 before he was traded to the Boston Red Sox at the Trade Deadline last July.
