Cardinals 5, Tigers 2: Late inning woes cost Tigers in series finale

The Detroit Tigers could not achieve a sweep over the St. Louis Cardinals in this one, as the Tigers allowed five runs in the seventh inning and fell to the Cardinals, 5-2.

For a while, this game was a pitcher’s duel. In the first three innings, there were just two baserunners: Nicholas Castellanos tried to pounce on John Gant early with a two-out double, and Dawel Lugo drew a walk (if you do not keep close track of the farm system, that is not a common occurrence).
