The Detroit Tigers took a flier on veteran pitcher Matt Moore earlier this week, agreeing to a one-year, $2.5 million deal with the left-handed fireballer.
For the Tigers, it’s a low-risk proposition; $2.5 million isn’t much in today’s free-agent market. For comparison, the Tigers signed Mike Fiers and Francisco Liriano to $6 million and $4 million contracts, respectively, last offseason, and both pitched well enough to make their contracts a bargain.
