SEATTLE – It was, as the kids say, “Must See J.V.”
It was buckling curveballs and the best fastball command of the season and through five innings on Wednesday night at Safeco Field, it was a vintage look at Justin Verlander, who had that look in his eye.
He had his best stuff of the season, a bushel of strikeouts and the Seattle Mariners, they had nothing. Not a single baserunner. Not until speedster Jarrod Dyson placed a perfect bunt into no man’s land between the pitcher’s mound and first base, challenging ridiculous unwritten rules and creating a rally that would turn this game upside-down.
