MINNEAPOLIS -- The bullpen needs a breather, but the Detroit Tigers keep playing close games.
Recently, they've been losing them.
Reliever Daniel Stumpf walked in the go-ahead in the eighth inning as the Minnesota Twins beat the Tigers 4-2 in the series opener Monday night at Target Field.
The Tigers (20-27) have lost four games in a row, and the bullpen has played a central role in three of the games.
After Stumpf gave up a walk and a double in the 8th, the Tigers elected to intentionally walk Twins right-handed hitting catcher Mitch Garver to bring lefty Logan Morrison to the plate.
