Following a call-up from Double-A Erie late Monday night, Warwick Saupold (0-1, 6.35 ERA) slipped on the Mud Hens uniform and got the spot start for Toledo. Saupold had a strong start, working over five innings without trouble until the sixth. Saupold surrendered four earned runs off seven hits and struck out three in his Triple-A debut. Angel Nesbitt (0-3, 6.14 ERA) and Alberto Cabrera (2-2, 7.65 ERA) stepped in in relief and the battering continued as they allowed a combined nine earned runs off 11 hits. Marc Krauss led Toledo with a pair of hits, including a double and a triple.
