Braves pitcher can't enjoy near no-hitter after old tweets resurface

Sean Newcomb insists it was "just something stupid."

Whatever the apology, you can add the Atlanta Braves starting pitcher to the list of athletes and celebrities who have had insensitive old tweets dug up by social media sleuths.

For Newcomb, it came as he was pitching the best game of his career, losing a no-hitter with two outs in the ninth inning against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The offensive posts from 2011 and 2012 resurfaced, and included racial epithets and gay slurs.

To his credit, the Braves clubhouse had closed after the game and Newcomb had the media return so he could address the tweets.
