DETROIT -- Detroit Tigers manager Brad Ausmus was asked -- or was going to be asked, until he interrupted the question -- if he had considered lifting Nicholas Castellanos for a defensive replacement late in the game Sunday.
The simple and perfectly defensible answer was, "No, I didn't." Or perhaps, "Yes, I did, but ultimately decided against it."
Instead, Ausmus launched into a bizarre tirade about the negativity of the Detroit media that ensured many more people will be talking about his decision not to replace Castellanos than if he had just answered a reasonable question with a simple yes or no.
