CLEVELAND – Lefty Matt Boyd allowed one run on seven hits over six innings to help the Detroit Tigers win their first series in Cleveland since 2015, earning a 4-1 victory over the Indians on Sunday at Progressive Field.
Boyd allowed multiple baserunners in the second inning, third and sixth innings. He came out unscathed the first two times, but allowed one run in the sixth.
Alex Avila hit a two-run home run in the second inning and Miguel Cabrera added an RBI single in the eighth, before leaving the game with lower back tightness.
The Tigers took the series, 2-1.
