LAKELAND, Fla. – Justin Verlander’s normal life on this day begins like this: It’s not exciting, he says, but he woke up around 10:30 a.m. He got out of bed, fooled around for a bit, did nothing really, hopped into his car and went to Starbucks. He picked up two coffees, one for his girlfriend and one for himself — a white mocha nonfat with no whipped cream and an extra shot of espresso — drove back, did some more of nothing, probably played with his dog, hopped back into his car and went to work.
At work, he ate breakfast and finished his coffee.
