LAKELAND -- When Grayson Greiner and Austin Green were reassigned to minor-league camp on Wednesday as part of the Detroit's Tigers' second round of cuts, it left four catchers in the big-league clubhouse.
It also made it fairly easy to guess 2017 assignments.
James McCann and Alex Avila, the Tigers' only winter free-agent addition, will be in Detroit. The other two catchers, John Hicks and Miguel Gonzalez, will be in Triple-A Toledo. Greiner and Green coudl be destined for Double-A Erie (with occasional work in Toledo).
