Justin Verlander was slated to pitch night, so getting perfect game alerts from the Astros-Rangers game wasn't really a surprise.
Except it wasn't for Verlander. It was 44-year-old Bartolo Colon who was dealing.
The pitcher affectionately known as "Big Sexy" was shutting down the defending World Series champions and took a perfect game into the eighth inning.
Unfortunately for Colon, the bid for history ended when he walked Carlos Correa to lead off the eight and then Josh Redick followed with a double.
Nolan Ryan (44 years, 90 days) remains the oldest pitcher to throw a no-hitter, and Randy Johnson (40 years, 252 days) is the oldest to toss a perfect game.
