Detroit — For the first time this season, Tigers manager Brad Ausmus spoke at length about his job security.
His comments came Sunday afternoon, following an 8-3 loss to the Texas Rangers — the team’s sixth straight loss, which has Detroit two games under .500 and seven games out of first place.
Tigers fans on Twitter were holding their collective breath, waiting for word whether the clubhouse doors opened late — a sign something big is brewing — or on time.
They opened on time, and Ausmus met the press on time.
“I understand that when you have a payroll like ours, the manager’s the guy that’s in the crosshairs,” Ausmus said.
