When Brad Ausmus and the Tigers parted ways in September of last season, he made it clear that he was interested in managing again somewhere. After a one-year hiatus, that somewhere is close to home in southern California, where he’ll be managing the Angels next season.
It’s not a total surprise, given Ausmus spent this past season in the Angels front office as a special assistant to GM Billy Eppler. Once Mike Scioscia’s tenure as Angels skipper ended, Ausmus became a pretty strong candidate — and one of the more experienced ones, having managed four seasons in Detroit.
