CINCINNATI -- Michael Fulmer ended the fifth inning by pumping 98 mph fastballs and striking out his eighth batter.
He was under 70 pitches and looked like he had enough gas to make it another couple innings -- or maybe even pitch into the ninth for the first time since last summer.
Instead, his afternoon ended abruptly. Scooter Gennett and Eugenio Suarez hit back-to-back sliders out of park to score three runs and give the Reds a lead they would never relinquish.
