DETROIT -- If Detroit Tigers reliever Warwick Saupold wanted to go home this week, he'd have to take a roughly five-hour flight from Detroit to Los Angeles, then a 15-hour flight from LAX to Sydney, Australia.

After all that, he'd still have to hop on another flight to Perth, which would take another five hours.

He would home on Wednesday at about noon. To get back in time for the Tigers' game on Friday, he'd have to leave Australia later that night.

Needless to say, Saupold is staying in Detroit, where his plans are to "golf on Monday, golf on Tuesday and then maybe golf on Wednesday," he said.
